Unlock Code Instructions for BlackBerry Cell Phones for All Networks
In this guide I will show you how to enter unlock codes into your BlackBerry cell phone so that it will be unlocked from your current provider such as SUN,SMART, GLOBE. etc.First you need an unlock code of course. If you don't have an unlock code yet, you can get/request here
No cable or software needed! Just enter the code that you will receive and you'll have an unlocked BlackBerry cell phone! Unlocking by entering a code on your phone's keypad is called "Unlock by IMEI". Indeed, it is the most convenient way to unlock your cell phone.
Below are instructions that work for most network providers. Some unlock codes, such as those for T-Mobile locked cell phones, have to be entered differently and are shown at the end.
How to Enter Unlock Codes on BlackBerry 8800 and 8800 Pearl:
- You must have a SIM card in your phone to complete these steps (can be active or inactive)
- Go to settings menu => and then Options.
- Select Advanced options => and then Sim card
- Type MEPD using your Blackberry keyboard (NOTE: You will not see any text appear on the screen while typing MEPD)
- Hold the ALT Key while typing in MEPE on your Blackberry keyboard (NOTE: You will not see any text appear on the screen while typing MEPD)
- You should be presented with a prompt "Enter Network MEP Code". Type in the 16 or 8 digit unlock code and press in the track wheel / jog dial to confirm
- Your phone is now unlocked
How to Enter Unlock Codes on T-Mobile BlackBerry 8230 Curve:
- Press the Menu key.
- Scroll to and select Manage Connections.
- Select Turn All Connections Off.
- Press the red end key or the Escape key to go back to the Home screen
- Scroll to and select the Options icon.
- Scroll to and select Advanced Options.
- Scroll to and select SIM Card.
- Type MEPD Note: When typing in MEPD the letters will not appear on the screen. This step opens up the personalization on the device.
- Hold down the Alt key and type in MEP2. Note: When typing in MEP2 the letters/number will not appear on the screen. This Step opens up the Enter Network MEP code box.
- Enter the unlock code.
- Press the trackball (code accepted should display).
- Press and hold the red End key to turn the handheld off and then back on.
- Once the device has powered on, follow steps 1 & 2 and select Restore Connections.
How to Enter Unlock Codes on BlackBerry Curve:
You must have a SIM card in your phone to complete these steps, I have found that this procedure works best with an AT&T or Cingular Sim card in the phone (can be active or inactive ). Make sure the phone is not displaying the low battery warning!
- Power on
- Go to settings
- Go to advanced options
- Go to sim card
- Type MEPD
- Type MEP[Alt + 2] (all this with either a cingular or ATT SIM inside)
- It will ask you for the unlock code
How to Enter Unlock Codes on BlackBerry 8100 and 8100 Pearl:
- Go to Options Menu => Advanced Options
- In the SIM Card menu, hold down the shift (right of the zero, cap) press meppd
- You'll see the unlocking level screen there you hold the ALT key (left side below @) type mepp2 (*You won't see any text while you are typing either one of these.)
- Type in the 16 or 8 digit unlock code.
or
- Insert SIM into device
- Power phone on and Turn off the radio (Turn Wireless Off option) VERY IMPORTANT.
- Select "Options" THEN SELECT ADVANCED OPTIONS
- Scroll down and select "SIM Card"
- Type "MEPPD" (please note that you will not see what you type on the screen)
- Type "MEPP then [ALT BUTTON] then "2" (please note that you will not see what you type on the screen)
- Enter the Unlock Code
- Press enter
- Reboot device. Device is now unlocked.
How to Enter Unlock Codes on BlackBerry 8700 and 8700c:
You must have a SIM card in your phone to complete these steps, I have found that this procedure works best with an AT&T or Cingular Sim card in the phone (can be active or inactive ). Make sure the phone is not displaying the low battery warning!

- Go to advanced options
- Go to sim card
- Type MEPD (not case sensitive) (you will not see text appear on screen while typing)
- Does it say Network active? if so your phone is locked
- Hold the ALT Key while typing in MEPE (not case sensitive, and you will not see text appear on screen while typing)
- It will say "Enter Network MEP Code, Type in the 16 or 8 digit unlock code and press in the jog dial to confirm.
- Your phone is now unlocked
How to Enter Unlock Codes on BlackBerry 7100 (7100v etc):
Warning! The Wireless Mode MUST BE OFF before performing the given SIM Unlock instructions in order to avoid causing the device from becoming defective.
How to turn Wireless Mode Off:
- Scroll to the Airplane Icon (Turn Wireless Off.)
- Press Select.
- Wireless Mode will turn off.
- REMOVE the SIM card
- Power On the Device (Put the Battery back in)
How to SIM Unlock the device:
- Go to the "Tools" screen
- Select "Settings"
- Select the "SIM Card" option
- Type MEPPD
- It should then display a list "SIM, Network, Network Subset, etc..."
- To select "Network" type MEPP Alt-2
- It should then ask for the code
- Enter the unlock code
How to Enter Unlock Codes on BlackBerry 6xxx 7xxx: ie 6230, 7100, 7290 etc.:
- Select Options menu on BB.
- Now you select SIM CARD menu. To be able to see this you have to type this on the keypad on phone : (TEXT WILL NOT APPEAR ON THE SCREEN until you enter the unlock code)
- Type 'MEPD' for all models except 7100 in which case in case use 'MEPPD'.
- Usually you should see "active" NET lock. Now in order to disable this lock type 'MEP2' respectively 'MEPP2' if phone is 7100 and will appear a dialog asking for code. NOTE: You must use the "alt" or "shift" key to enable numbers so example would be: m-e-p-"alt key"-2.
- Now you should see the place to enter your net unlock code. (if not, you didn't type in mep2 or mepp2 properly.)
- Here you must enter the "NET Unlock Code" that the bb unlocker showed you and hit return.
How to Enter Unlock Codes on T-Mobile BlackBerry Cell Phones:
- On the Home screen, click the Tools icon. The Options screen appears.
- In the tools screen, select the Settings icon.
- Scroll to SIM Card and select it. You should see the phone number and the SIM ID number.
- Type ‘mepd’ to display the first five levels of SIM locking.
- T-Mobile uses network locking so the Network should display Active. All other states should display Disabled. Please note: For the Blackberry 7100t you will hit the “P” twice when entering the ‘mepd’ and ‘mep2′ for steps 4 & 5.
- Type ‘mep2′ to display the dialog box asking for the unlock code (Press the Alt + 2 key to get the number 2)
- Input the Network Unlock code
- Press ENTER and reboot handheld.
How to Enter Unlock Codes on T-Mobile BlackBerry 8100 Cell Phones (alternative instructions if above instructions do not work):
- Can be done without a sim card inserted.
- While on the home screen, click the “blackberry key” on keyboard, then select “options”.
- Choose “Advanced Options”.
- Select “Sim Card”
- There is no area to type these letters, you just type them as instructed. No need to hit keys twice to get a letter either. Type meppd to display the first five levels of SIM locking. Most companies use network locking so the Network should display Active. All other states should display Disabled (you will not see text appear on screen while typing)
- Type mepp2 to display the dialog box asking for the unlock code (Press the Alt + 2 key to get the number 2) ( you will not see text appear on screen while typing )
- Input the SIM Unlock code
- Press in the trackball once
